Heart Healthy Pomegranate, Natures Antioxidant

After stumbling onto the wonderful health beverage called PogaMoonga™ I began a comprehensive personal research project on all of its' powerful ingredients. First and foremost is the heart healthy Pomegranate, Natures Antioxidant.

Pomegranates have been consumed by man since before recorded history. Pomegranate has historically been used for its natural restorative powers, and can be consumed both as a fruit, and as juice.
While it seems ancient cultures have known about the benefits of this amazing food, it is only recently that medical research has proven the wide range of health benefits of pomegranates and their juice. The pomegranate is a large, seedy red fruit, slightly larger than an orange. Each and every pomegranate is composed of exactly 840 seeds, each surrounded by a sac of sweet-tart juice contained by a thin skin. Pomegranate juice is made from the pomegranate fruit; which is an unusually seedy fruit that has a tart, yet sweet taste.

Pomegranate juice was touted, on a recent Oprah Show, as something people should add to their diets. Pomegranate juice sounds like an excellent choice and is receiving rave reviews from medical professionals Worldwide. Pomegranate juice is being hailed as the new cranberry thanks to its fantastic health benefits and delicious flavor. This juice is packed with many powerful health benefits.

Health benefits of Pomegranate juice have been long recognized, and have been extensively promoted as such. Recently more research has been completed that studied the benefits of Pomegranate juice for combating heart disease, high blood pressure, prostate cancer and many other health issues. The Pomegranate is a natural antioxidant, which helps in detoxification of the body, as well as limiting free radical damage to healthy cells.

Researchers have discovered that in patients drinking pomegranate juice, the oxygen deficiency to the heart during exercise was significantly reduced as compared to a placebo. This therefore suggests an increase in blood flow to the heart with the use of some form of pomegranate. In some clinical studies, pomegranate juice has been shown to be of significant benefit, especially in the prevention of heart disease. Ingesting healthy pomegranate juice also been known to alter anxiety, have a beneficial effect on insomnia and improve the circulation of the heart. Research shows the compounds found in pure pomegranate juice help fight cell damage in the body and thus help protect against heart disease, cancer and other diseases. In one study it was shown that blood flow to the heart improved by about 17 percent among those who drank 8 ounces of pomegranate juice a day and it worsened by 18 percent in the group given a placebo drink. Recent research has shown that pomegranate juice can even help to lower cholesterol. It decreases the plaque-forming "bad" LDL cholesterol level, increases the heart-protective "good" HDL cholesterol level, and increases blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart. Studies also suggest that heart patients who consume pomegranate juice may also experience a reduction in arterial plaque build-up and lower levels of LDL cholesterol (the bad kind of cholesterol).
Pomegranate juice also shows a greater ability to inhibit LDL oxidation than most other beverages.
